I will be teaching my class at its new regular time (10am) on Monday. I know some of you will have the day off in observance of MLK day, so please join us! Let’s get this party started… right.

“We are all meant to learn the same truths and to allow our Divinity to work within and through us; this is a simple task, though hardly an easy one. The settings and people in our lives are different, but the challenges they represent to us are identical, as are the influences that these challenges have upon our bodies and our spirits. The more we are able to learn this truth, the more we can develop symbolic sight- the ability to see through physical illusions and recognize the lesson being offered to us by life’s challenges.”

In observance of the first full moon of 2012, and also of the purification rituals that went on around here leading up to it, I took all of my crystals out for a bath in the moonlight.
My heart sunk a little when I realized that my “travel” labradorite had gone missing. It was my favorite of my “companion” crystals- my traveling buddies that live in my amulet bag (get yours now on Etsy– wink wink). In its honor, I bring you a profile of my very favorite stone… Labradorite:
From Judy Hall’s The Crystal Bible:
“Labradorite is a highly mystical and protective stone, a bringer of the light. It raises consciousness and connects with universal energies. Labradorite deflects unwanted energies from the aura and prevents energy leakage. It forms a barrier to negative energies shed during therapy. It can take you into another world or into another life.”
Other attributes she notes are:
-“It raises consciousness and grounds spiritual energies intot he physical body.”
-“It strengthens faith in the self and trust in the Universe.”
-“[It] calms an overactive mind and energizes the imagination, bringing up new ideas.”
-“[It] is a useful companion through change, imparting strength and perseverance.”
Labradorite, I love you.
“In all likelihood we have made our lives far more complex than they have to be. Achieving health, happiness, and an energy balance comes down to deciding to focus more on the positive than on the negative and to live in a manner spiritually congruent with what we know is the truth. Making those two commitments alone is sufficient to allow the power contained within our Divine biological system to influence the content and direction of our lives.”

Day 5 of Yoga Journal’s 21-day yoga challenge: I’m still so motivated to keep with my practice- in great part because a) every day I get an email with a new asana sequence b) I get to track and share my progress on Social Workout.
I never fully appreciated the importance of a home practice until I was a full-time mommy. You can practice with babies in bouncers. There are no associated babysitting costs. My first months of mommyhood instilled in me the value of a dedicated home practice.
Plus, at that time, the munchkin and I were stationed in the wilds of wild and wonderful West Virginia. There are definitely yoga classes there, but they aren’t as plentiful or as frequent as I’m accustomed to.
Read on if you would like to learn more about developing your home practice… whatever the reason may be.
Love to my Mountaineers.
Love to all.
I’ve felt somewhat conflicted about my new-found ‘virtual’ connectedness since I created this blog. Long story short, I’m often overwhelmed with amount of guidance I encounter when I log on. I wonder how I could possibly incorporate it into my life (irl)?? Would my time be better spent sticking to the simple truths that have managed to stick in my brain? Balance is key, for sure. Moderation.
And then, something simply beautiful will happen, and I’m reminded not to worry so much. I’m not the showrunner. I need not feel responsible for every last how and why. And if I’m ever feeling overwhelmed or indecisive, I need only call on my Angels.
That’s kinda what happened just now. I got a little ‘wink wink nudge nudge’ from my Angel crew. I just posted a love note to my Angels, asking for help in opening my heart. Before I could post it to my Facebook page, I discovered a link to this guided meditation with Jack Kornfield about the awakening and opening of the heart.
You may have to enter an email address to get to the actual page, but it’s well worth it. Audio and video are available for download.
Dear Angels and Guides:
Please help me to open to new experiences, ideas, and possibilities. Open my heart. Open my mind. Open, open, open. Most of all, please help me to be open and receptive to your help.
Thanks in advance.
All my love,
Day 3 of Yoga Journal’s 21-day yoga challenge, and I’m really loving the ‘social’ aspect of it. I’m finding that connecting and sharing my experiences with others is really keeping me motivated to stay with my practice every day!
How are you doing with your resolutions? What’s keeping you motivated?
