Yoga this week!!

Bam! Back again!

Actually, the Monday morning Yoga Goddesses class never left. It has been happening all summer, and we have been having a great time out there in the sunshine.

Join us tomorrow at 10 am for an invigorating, centering asana flow to kick off your week!

Bonjour, mes amis!!

Well, well, well… what have we here?!

Moments ago, I logged on to the site for the first time in… a long time. In fact, I noticed that my last post was from June 18th- two days before the solstice.

Ahhh, yes! It makes perfect sense now. I sat down to do my ‘work’ on the morning of the 19th, and I no longer had a working display on my computer. Because the fairies, angels, Holy Ones, and heavenly Beings must have thought it would be best for me to disconnect and enjoy my summer ;). Thank God/dess!

Within days of my personal computer breaking, all of the others in my home developed problems as well. I have been completely, blissfully computerless all summer. It’s the best time for it, really.

There are new developments to share- and new inspirations. This time has been a productive one for me to regroup, reevaluate, and decide what is the next step. I will have a lot to share very shortly. Just in time because the computer situation is on the verge of being remedied.

Check back soon for more updates!

Love to all!

Namaste, yoga lovers!

Crystal in the spotlight: Amazonite

Day 5… I’m alive! Thanks to the trusty amazonite in my pocket. Ha. Amazonite is a great protection stone, and it is known for blocking many types of stress.

Personally, I love the appearance of it. The beautiful blue-green color reminds me of tropical waters.

The property that I’ve most often heard associated with amazonite is its ability to protect the physical body from microwaves and cell phone emanations. It absorbs this ‘pollution’ and should be placed between you and its source (taped to a cell phone, for instance).

Here is more about its specific healing properties:

“Amazonite heals and opens both the heart and throat chakras to enhance loving communication. It also opens the third eye and intuition. The stone dissipates negative energy and blockages in the nervous system. It is beneficial in osteoporosis, tooth decay, calcium deficiency, and calcium deposits, balancing the metabolic deficiencies that create these conditions. The elixir rectifies calcium problems. Amazonite also relieves muscle spasms. A major property is the protection it affords from the health hazards of microwaves and other sources of electromagnetic smog.”

Beauty and magic! Ah, I’m in love… ♥

Weekly wisdom from Doreen Virtue

Sum-sum-summertime.

Can I see by a show of hands who is excited for the summer solstice on Wednesday? It’s one of my favorite days of the year- the longest day of the year! Go, sunshine, go!

I’m still hoping that the gloom dissipates a little so that I could actually see a some sunshine. That would be nice. I taught my class under gloomy skies this morning, but we had a good time all the same. I always love teaching outside on Monday mornings. It sets a good tone for the beginning of the week. Which brings me back to…

Doreen and the angels are here once again to give us guidance about the upcoming week- the official beginning of summer. Such an active, exciting time of the year. See what the angels have to say about it.

Happy Monday!

Crystal in the spotlight: Aventurine

Day 4 already! You know what that means? The summer solstice is getting near.

Of course, it also means that we’ve worked our way up to the heart chakra in our little ‘crystal in the spotlight’ marathon. And the stone of the day is…? Aventurine! You may have noticed that both chrysoprase and malachite (our two previous crystal superstars) are also strongly connected to the heart. Green is the color of the heart chakra, so many green stones have an association to the heart chakra.

In fact, aventurine can be a variety of colors, and each of these varieties has its own unique properties. Aventurine has a high quartz content, but it is the presence of other minerals that determines its color. Green aventurine, the type that I picked up in Oklahoma, is the most common variety. The green color is produced by the addition of fuchsite to the quartz crystals.

I think that my favorite quality of green aventurine is that it facilitates connection to the devic kingdom, making it a friend of the gardener. Any friend of the gardener is a friend of mine!

Aventurine is another great protection stone, protecting the heart and regenerating heart energy. It also balances male and female energies, and promotes leadership qualities.

On a physical level, aventurine promotes feelings of well-being and heals parts of the body found in the region of the heart and throat (heart, lungs, adrenals, and sinuses).

Here’s to you, aventurine! Welcome to the family!

Yoga this week!!

Oh, boy!! We’re back in the swing of things now. According to the schedule, at least.

I will be back to teaching my regular class on Monday this week. I’m thinking the practice will focus on grounding postures and coming (back?) into connection with the body and breath.

Crystal in the spotlight: Malachite

For so, so long I had been hoping to add a piece of malachite to my crystal babies. And guess what? I found it! I found it! I found my own very special little piece.

I remember malachite from the time of my first fascination with rocks and minerals when I was a small child. I loved the color, and I loved the beautiful swirl patterns in it. Malachite is a secondary copper mineral, and its deep green color is caused by the copper within it.

The high copper content in malachite is the reason for its pulsing electromagnetic energy field. It is a powerful protection stone that absorbs negativity and environmental pollutants. Because of its ability to soak up negative energies, malachite must be cleansed frequently.

It activates all chakras, especially the heart. Here are some of its associations with the chakras:

-On the solar plexus, it facilitates emotional healing and balances the heart and sacral chakras. Place it on the solar plexus to absorb negative emotions.

-On the heart, it promotes greater harmony and balance.

-On the heart and throat, it promotes the physical health of the heart.

-On the third eye, it activates the intuition and enhances insight, helping the individual to see clearly what is impeding spiritual growth.

For its properties of protection and increased insight, malachite is known as a stone of transformation. It is an excellent companion for anyone who is in a period of great change in their lives. It facilitates the ‘rebirth’ process.

So, can I get a ‘yay, malachite!’ now?

Thought so.

Welcome to the crew, malachite. I think you’re going to fit in just fine… ♥

Crystal in the spotlight: Chrysoprase

Day 2 and we’re movin’ on up… to a stone that is associated with the sacral chakra, as well as the heart chakra- chrysoprase. Chrysoprase is an apple-green chalcedony (a type of quartz).

Its name derives from the Greek words “chrysos,” meaning gold/yellow, and “prason,” meaning leek. This name refers to its unique color, which is caused by the presence of nickel. The color can be lighter or darker depending on the amount of nickel present.

Chrysoprase promotes abundance and prosperity at the level of the solar plexus chakra, and it enlivens the sacral chakra by drawing out hidden talents and supporting creativity. It also supports “physical creativity,” enhancing fertility.

It is known for other healing properties within the physical body, like stimulating the liver. Like bloodstone, it is a powerful detoxifier.

Chrysoprase also detoxifies the emotional body and balances the heart chakra. In this aspect, it helps the individual to overcome egotism and judgmentalism- two critical steps in embracing the heart chakra’s lessons about universal love. These beneficial properties at the level of the heart foster greater compassion and forgiveness and grow the ability to express oneself without anger.

Additionally, it aids release of emotions that have been stored since childhood and heals the inner child.

On a spiritual level, it brings universal energy into the body and helps us to see our lives and their events as part of the Divine whole. Realizing the role of Divine will in the details of our lives, we are open to greater trust and security.

Daily reminder

“Learn to remove the weeds that have grown in the garden of the mind. Make your mental garden so beautiful that God will come there. If you want to have such a mental garden, blooming in the soil of wisdom, you must make your life simple. By doing everything consciously, not absentmindedly, you can analyze your activities; then choose what is important and cut out the nonessentials. As soon as you are through with your duties, withdraw your mind from them and employ it in other creative pursuits.”
