Healing

Daily reminder

“In all likelihood we have made our lives far more complex than they have to be. Achieving health, happiness, and an energy balance comes down to deciding to focus more on the positive than on the negative and to live in a manner spiritually congruent with what we know is the truth. Making those two commitments alone is sufficient to allow the power contained within our Divine biological system to influence the content and direction of our lives.”

Dear Angels and Guides

Dear Angels and Guides:

Please help me to open to new experiences, ideas, and possibilities. Open my heart. Open my mind. Open, open, open. Most of all, please help me to be open and receptive to your help.

Thanks in advance.

All my love,

Meditation for day 2

This is a very cool meditation for day 2 of the Yoga Journal’s 21 day yoga challenge. I know there are those among you who have practiced yoga (asana) in the past, but have never committed to a meditation practice.

This is a great practice for anyone who is interested in Reiki or in amplifying the healing abilities of their own bodies (via Spirit Voyage).

Weekly wisdom from Doreen Virtue

Happy Monday… it’s Doreen and the “nature Angels”- the fairies. I totally can’t believe how right on she is (ok, yes I can). I’m using the power of the full moon to clear, cleanse, and let go. For days, I’ve been purging my house, my body, my life of all that no longer serves me. Powerful winds are at my back and now is the time. Thanks, Doreen for reminding me of it again.

How about you? Does Doreen’s reading ring true this week?

Saucha = Purity

As 2012 has begun, I’ve been making an effort to re-commit to my observance of Ahimsa. For several days, though, I have been feeling much more connected to a niyama– Saucha. Saucha is usually translated as “purity.”

I was reading through an article at the beginning of this week that stated that the New Year is a time for ‘purification rituals.’ I’m not sure how broadly applicable that is, but I love the idea of it anyway. I know, for me, it rings true. Perhaps if the holidays are a time of excess, the New Year is a time to re-balance, purify and simplify. The New Year is like pulling out a fresh, clean sheet of paper on which each of us will write the “2012” chapter of our lives.

There are so many convergences happening right now that I’ve been drawn to an intensified observance of Saucha in the past few days. Firstly, we are still in this window of pure potentiality, known as the window of direct creation. This will continue until 1.23.

Also, on Monday 1.9, the 40-day Global Sadhana honoring the Divine Feminine will be drawing to a close, and I will be beginning a 21-day yoga challenge– transitioning back into a more rigorous asana practice again.

And let’s not forget that the first full moon of 2012 will be on Monday, as well. I usually give a little shout-out to the full moon with some type of clearing or purification practice- I sage, I re-charge my crystals, I go to a full moon sound healing ceremony with crystal bowls from time to time.

With all of these factors combining to produce such powerful energy, I’ve been prioritizing clearing, cleansing, letting go- putting down any excess baggage that no longer serves me. My house is getting the Saucha treatment currently. I’m finally purging all of the excess that came here when we moved in last year. Let me tell you… it feels great. I’ve been re-organizing and re-arranging, practicing a little Feng Shui to remove any blockages and help the energy (Chi) flow more freely. I feel better already.

As I was reflecting on the changes I’m making and experiencing, I realized that details are awesome and wonderful. But it is the “purification rituals” themselves that hold the most power. No matter what form or aspect the “purification” takes, the results are the same in some way- like saying ‘I love you‘ in 15 different languages. If the intention is pure and true, it will transport you to the same place in the end.

If you haven’t tried any “purification rituals” recently (whatever that means to you), maybe give it a try and see if you experience the same thing. Has anyone else been focusing on clearing and cleansing this New Year? If so, whatcha doin’?

Ahims-huh??

I was just thinking about ways to regain my focus in my observance of Ahimsa when I came across this video of the Dalai Lama at the presentation to His Holiness of the Mahatma Gandhi International Award for Reconciliation and Peace during the Kalachakara for World Peace in Bodh Gaya, India, on January 4, 2012.

Takin’ notes. ♥

What’s Reiki??

I posted a video recently from my friend, Lotus Love. She’s a Reiki practioner and healer. After I posted it (and also after having a Reiki session with her), quite a few people have asked me ‘what exactly is Reiki?’

The video above covers it quite nicely. Basically, it’s a holistic healing modality in which a Reiki practioner acts as a conduit of natural healing vibrations. This article (via Green Lotus) also offers useful information about Reiki, including findings from a study of Reiki programs in hospitals, clinics, and hospice facilities throughout the US.

One of my intentions for this year is to learn to practice Reiki, so look out for more info on Reiki as we roll into 2012!

2012! What’s for break-fast??

Dear Lord.

Well, ummmm…. Happy New Year! Happy Solstice! Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah! Happy Kwanzaa! Merry Birthday! Merry Grinchmas! Merry Un-birthday, etc. In other words, end radio silence. Back to life, back to reality.

And… here we are. Every so often, I need a ‘technology fast’. What can I say? I’m sensitive. And maybe a little bit old-fashioned. I harken back to the pre-digital days- when cell phones weighed more than chihuahuas and if you updated anyone regularly on your status, you probably did it in person. Reality TV? Uhh… like, ‘Unsolved Mysteries’?? I really loved that show. I watched it every Wednesday night… maybe because every now and then there were segments about yetis and extra-terrestrials and stuff. Maybe.

My point is, I get overwhelmed with all of this ‘virtual’ connectedness from time to time. When I created this site, I sought out channels of inspiration that I could pass along to… interested parties… anyone who would listen pretty much. Or not. I guess I wouldn’t have changed much at all if I knew no one was listening at all. I’m just one little girl shining her light the best she can. I aim to be. I created this forum for that reason.

And then… whoa!!! Ask and you shall receive. I was inundated every day with so much guidance. So much information. I was stunned. Totally like… ‘Wow! This is so easy! Finding inspiration… it’s like the job does itself.’ It really did, and I was just the messenger. Imagine me a divine fax machine shooting out memos to y’all- like… L O V E. That is all.

I L O V E it. And still, I’m feeling ‘overwhelmed’?? I need a technology fast? A general hibernation? For Christmas and New Year’s? Yes. Especially. 2011 was such an epic year. So much change. Ready or not. How could it not? I have a small child. He grows and changes from day to day. Like… ‘did you get taller overnight??’ In fact, I would say, he began the year as a baby and finished it as a boy.

At the beginning of 2011, I set intentions for 1.1 through 7.1. I was looking back through those as I set my intentions for the new year. Two things were clear… 1) I knew that 2011 was the year for finally completing my yoga teaching certification. 2) I also knew that 2011 was the year that my boy would get another year older. And he did. When I reflect on last year, I see my little man moving forward with gold stars all the way. Like… potty-trained himself. Became BFFs with his first actual babysitter. Asked to start school. He’s a gift.

When we found the right school for him, I was told he could begin on 12.1 or 1.1. And I clung to my baby like a big ol’ baby. Maxim has been my full-time “job” since I was 7-months pregnant. I am so blessed. It’s the greatest job I will ever have. Hand to heart. I thank God for it. I also thank God for the intervention 18 months ago to remind me that YOGA is the answer, no matter what the question is. Not just a reminder- a push. It all came together beautifully. I am starting this new phase exactly where I need to be. But still…

Maxim is starting school on Thursday. He’s totally ready for it. I’m still working on it.

And on top of that, my BFFL- my partner in crime, my partner in…basically everything- he got a job in 2011 that marked another huge transition. We had a magical life for years and years. We were together… always. Masters of the Universe. Like kids.

So, ‘that’ guy, he took time off for the end of the year. Hari Hari. Every day for nearly two weeks, I got to hang up the phone and connect face-to-face. With real people! My favorite ones!

Family hibernation. And now…

Back to life. Back to reality.

Love to all.
