As a full-time mommy for five years now, I understand the challenges of remaining faithful and committed to your yoga practice while negotiating the twists and turns that come with raising a family. For that reason, helping other mommies find ways to incorporate yoga into their busy lives is a passion of mine.
A daily yoga practice that includes 90 minutes a day in a yoga studio sounds wonderful. Sign me up. I know, however, that that is not a practical solution for everyone. Time, budget, and child care may be serious considerations for you, as they are for me. But that does not mean that yoga isn’t an option for you at this stage of your life.
In fact, as a mom, yoga is not optional for me. Through yoga, I have more energy, greater presence of mind, more comfort and ease in my body (which comes in handy for chasing little munchkins), and a greater ability to manage the demands of the moment. All in all, I feel I am better equipped for this crazy, demanding, awesome, unparalleled job called mommyhood because of yoga.
Let’s work together to find ways we can make yoga ‘work’ for you. Does getting to a studio for a class seem like too much? Try in-home private yoga classes, or even classes via Skype. Don’t want to spend the time away from your little ones? We can give mommy & me classes a try and turn your yoga practice into a bonding experience with your child. Could you use some adult interaction with like-minded individuals? Schedule a group class with other mommies and begin building a yoga mommy support system today.
Even if you live in an area where yoga classes are scarce (not to mention pre/postnatal or mommy & me yoga classes), choose private yoga instruction via Skype and geography is no obstacle.
