Yesterday was the full moon.
I set my intention on release, clearing and cleansing. I decided to practice yoga and then sage the house. But I realized I had given all of my bundles of sage to Josh’s friend- to burn with his papers before he left for Sweden. Huh.
All I had left was a leaf or two that came with crystals. Max and I enjoyed burning those. Then, we went for a walk.
We were walking down the trail at quite a clip. The gravel trail can rock him to sleep if I go fast enough. I establish my stride in the initial stretch- full of huge, barking dogs in the yards facing it.
Must race past them if he’s going to sleep.
I glanced down at my shoes as we were cruising along.
I saw a sage branch.
I could hardly believe it. I stopped and went back to pick it up and smell it.
Yep! It was sage- about 15 or 20 times what I had just burned. So, I put it in the stroller and smiled and said, Hari, Hari.

Happy Monday… it’s Doreen and the “nature Angels”- the fairies. I totally can’t believe how right on she is (ok, yes I can). I’m using the power of the full moon to clear, cleanse, and let go. For days, I’ve been purging my house, my body, my life of all that no longer serves me. Powerful winds are at my back and now is the time. Thanks, Doreen for reminding me of it again.
How about you? Does Doreen’s reading ring true this week?
As 2012 has begun, I’ve been making an effort to re-commit to my observance of Ahimsa. For several days, though, I have been feeling much more connected to a niyama– Saucha. Saucha is usually translated as “purity.”
I was reading through an article at the beginning of this week that stated that the New Year is a time for ‘purification rituals.’ I’m not sure how broadly applicable that is, but I love the idea of it anyway. I know, for me, it rings true. Perhaps if the holidays are a time of excess, the New Year is a time to re-balance, purify and simplify. The New Year is like pulling out a fresh, clean sheet of paper on which each of us will write the “2012” chapter of our lives.
There are so many convergences happening right now that I’ve been drawn to an intensified observance of Saucha in the past few days. Firstly, we are still in this window of pure potentiality, known as the window of direct creation. This will continue until 1.23.
Also, on Monday 1.9, the 40-day Global Sadhana honoring the Divine Feminine will be drawing to a close, and I will be beginning a 21-day yoga challenge– transitioning back into a more rigorous asana practice again.
And let’s not forget that the first full moon of 2012 will be on Monday, as well. I usually give a little shout-out to the full moon with some type of clearing or purification practice- I sage, I re-charge my crystals, I go to a full moon sound healing ceremony with crystal bowls from time to time.
With all of these factors combining to produce such powerful energy, I’ve been prioritizing clearing, cleansing, letting go- putting down any excess baggage that no longer serves me. My house is getting the Saucha treatment currently. I’m finally purging all of the excess that came here when we moved in last year. Let me tell you… it feels great. I’ve been re-organizing and re-arranging, practicing a little Feng Shui to remove any blockages and help the energy (Chi) flow more freely. I feel better already.
As I was reflecting on the changes I’m making and experiencing, I realized that details are awesome and wonderful. But it is the “purification rituals” themselves that hold the most power. No matter what form or aspect the “purification” takes, the results are the same in some way- like saying ‘I love you‘ in 15 different languages. If the intention is pure and true, it will transport you to the same place in the end.
If you haven’t tried any “purification rituals” recently (whatever that means to you), maybe give it a try and see if you experience the same thing. Has anyone else been focusing on clearing and cleansing this New Year? If so, whatcha doin’?
Dear Angels and Guides:
Please help me release my negative thoughts so that I may be a clear channel for your wisdom.
Thanks in advance,
Today, the moon was full at approximately 6:36am PST. Also, there was a lunar eclipse today that was the last in a series of eclipses that began about a year ago.
I enjoy keeping tabs on the phases of the moon. The gravitational force of the moon has had much to do with the way life has evolved on this planet. It is the cause of the oceans’ tides. It may also have strong effects on our own bodies. Consider that our bodies are mostly composed of water. Now remember the pull of the moon creates the tides. Perhaps this is the origin of the association of the full moon with strange behavior or with other changes- like more babies being born?
In any case, I like to stay connected to the phases of the moon simply because it is a connection to the rhythms of nature. The time around the new moon is a time for manifesting and setting intentions- letting them come into being as the moon itself waxes. And the full moon, with its powerful presence, is a time for cleansing, clearing, and letting go. Let the gravity of the full moon draw away anything that is no longer serving us.
I have found the moon to be a very powerful ally in manifesting and evolving. How about you? Do you follow the moon and its phases?
Eclipses can also bring about big changes in our lives. Read what Susan Miller has to say about dealing with eclipses here.
My true introduction to the healing power of crystals occurred while I was pregnant with my son and living in Sedona, AZ. For that reason (and many others), it is a subject that I hold very dear. I truly believe in their ability to bring healing and positive change when used with the proper intention. Not to mention that, symbolically, crystals and gemstones represent a transition of the everyday rock into a material of higher vibration- one with a purpose. That leap holds great power for me. And so, for all of these reasons, I would like to introduce you to one of my crystal friends… Citrine.
Citrine is a stone of abundance and attracts wealth and success. It also repels negativity from the individual aura and from group settings- so maybe keep a cluster around for family holiday gatherings. 😉
It is also noted for its healing properties on the following levels:
Energetic: It protects the aura and prevents it from absorbing negative energies. It stimulates the crown chakra and balances the solar plexus and sacral chakras.
Emotional: It promotes balance by maintaining a healthy emotional flow and preventing blockages. Since it opens the solar plexus chakra (the joy center), it promotes greater joy and the releasing of ego-based fears.
Psychological: It promotes self-confidence and self-esteem, both of which are associated with a healthy solar plexus chakra. It also aids in maintaining a positive attitude and accepting constructive criticism. For this reason, it is also associated with creativity.
Mental: It helps with focused thought and concentration. It also aids in overcoming negative thought patterns.
Physical: It promotes healthy functioning of the digestive, endocrine, and circulatory systems. It is especially associated with the thyroid, the gall bladder, and the kidneys.
If it is worn on the body, the best positions are either on the fingers or at the throat.
Citrine is also the birthstone for this month, November.
So, that’s my little introduction to my good friend, Citrine. I hope that it inspires you to pick up some citrine and connect with its amazing benefits today.
