Love you forever

Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace.
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury,pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
and where there is sadness, joy.

O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console;
to be understood as to understand;
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive;
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned;
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life. Amen.

Today marks 60 years since Paramahansa Yogananda entered mahasamadhi. As he said, though he left his body, his spirit shines on so brightly and lights the way for so many.

In the past couple days, I’ve been thinking a lot about honoring loved ones who have passed and how to stay connected to their spirit. Yesterday was the 10 year anniversary of my grandmother’s passing, and she’s been on my mind. She was such an amazing role model in her sweet, loving way. She certainly taught me a great deal of what I know about love and loving. I honor her and stay connected to her by living my life with a loving heart.

I found the prayer above on her memorial card, and I think it expresses so much of who she was and how she lived her life. Such an inspiration. I aspire to live up to it every, single day!

Thank you Yogananda, and thank you Gram for being such bright, shining stars ♥

Dear Angels and Guides

Dear Angels and Guides:

Please help me replace my negative thoughts with positive, loving ones.

Please help me master my thoughts so they become the legions awaiting my command rather than the obstacle to my peace.

Thanks in advance.
All my love,

Holly Richelle

ps- I’ve loaded ‘Autobiography of a Yogi’ on my iPod. Read by Ben Kingsley. Rawr! Thanks for the tip.

“Sadasiva, like Trailanga Swami, wore no cloth. One morning the nude yogi absentmindedly entered the tent of a Moslem cheiftain. Two ladies screamed in alarm; the warrior dealt a savage sword thrust at Sadasiva, whose arm was severed. The master departed unconcernedly. Overcome by awe and remorse, the Moslem picked up the arm from the floor and followed Sadasiva. The yogi quietly inserted his arm into the bleeding stump. When the cheiftain humbly asked for some spiritual instruction, Sadasiva wrote with his finger in the sands:

‘Do not do what you want, and then you may do what you like.’

“If the last year has been hopelessly bad, the New Year must be hopefully good. Remember, no matter what our trials have been, or how discouraged we are, if we make a continued effort to be better and to succeed we will find that, being made in the image of God, we are endowed with unlimited power. We are much stronger than our worst trials, no matter what they may be.”

“A child is born on that day and at that hour when the celestial rays are in mathematical harmony with his individual karma […]

The message boldly blazoned across the heavens at the moment of birth is not meant to emphasize fate- the result of past good and evil- but to arouse man’s will to escape from his universal thralldom. What he has done, he can undo. None other than himself was the instigator of the causes of whatever effects are now prevalent in his life. He can overcome any limitation, because he created it by his own actions in the first place, and because he possesses spiritual resources that are not subject to planetary pressure.”

~Sri Yukteswar, as quoted by Paramahansa Yogananda in Autobiography of a Yogi
